Why Protect Your Hand?
ANNOYING
Nothing is more annoying than play out of turn. And wouldn't it be terrible if your winning hand was called dead because another player's cards hit yours as they were folding…or even worse the dealer grabbed them because he thought you were folding??? It happens!!! |
PROTECT YOUR CARDS
Every player should protect their cards by placing an object on top of their cards. Also, by using a card protector, your cards can be safely placed in front of your chips where all other players and the dealer can see that you are still in the pot. By having the cards in front, not covered by your chips or your hand, no one should play out of turn, and the dealer can easily promote faster play by knowing where the action is at. And also, don’t you hate trying to buy a pot from 1 person, just to realize there is another player hiding his cards at the other end of the table??

Poker Etiquette
(yes there is such a thing!!) Poker Etiquette dictates that your chips should be stacked evenly (so you can call or bet larger wagers without having to count out every chip). The stacks vary based on the size of the game, and your personal preference. It doesn't matter whether they are 20, 25, or 40 chip stacks, as long as you know how big they are so you can make or call a bet with little effort, thus speeding up play. Don't make your stacks too high, because if a stack falls over it might be considered a bet, call, or raise, depending on the rules of that casino. Also, in pot or no limit games your larger denomination chips must be visible to the other players, either on top or in front of your lower denomination chips. And finally, your cards should be in front of your chips, protected by an item smaller than your cards. Play in turn, verbalize your call or raises in advance of your action, and be polite to other players and casino staff. If you have a problem or disagreement with another player or a dealer, request assistance from the floor person, and they will handle it. Most of all, have fun. Poker is a game, and Poker Faces are a fun way to use a card protector. Good Luck!!!!!!! |
